Celebrating Dan Kiss's paper on GABAergic neuron dysregulation in schizophrenia
Congrats to Dan Kiss, Xiaolin Zhou, and Nicole Endresz on the publication of their paper “Cortical GABAergic Neuron Dysregulation in Schizophrenia Is Age Dependent” in Biological Psychiatry: Global Open Science! The study analyzed transcriptomic data from over 1,400 individuals and found that reductions in key inhibitory neuron types in schizophrenia — particularly parvalbumin and somatostatin cells — are most pronounced in younger individuals, highlighting the importance of considering age in studies of this disorder.
We went out to celebrate with Dan at Prenup Pub near UofT campus.
